New Mexicans vote on General Obligation (GO) bonds every two years. GO bonds are a
proven and accepted method of funding brick-and-mortar projects at institutions throughout
国家.
This November, voters will once again have the opportunity to provide New Mexico’s
colleges, universities, and specialty schools with the tools and resources they need
to be successful. There are no tax increases associated with these bonds.
New Mexico Tech is requesting 2022 去债券 funding for both its Socorro campus and
its Playas 研究 and Training Center (PRTC) in Hidalgo County.
Playas Training Facility (Hidalgo County) - $5 million
This funding would be used to support additional federal funds that will pay for a
variety of infrastructure upgrades at the Playas 研究 and Training Center, including
rehabilitation of approximately 10 miles of road, repair and replacement of street
lights, water system rehabilitation (fire hydrants are not to code, water tank leaks
and water system failures occur), sewer system replacement and HVAC improvements.
Kelly Hall Replacement (Socorro County) - $3.300万年
The 2022 funding would be added to previous 去债券 funding to pay for construction
of a Kelly Hall building replacement. The new building will replace the aging facility
with modern laboratory space that will aid in the facility’s mission of petroleum
研究.
The previously approved 去债券 proposal for Brown Hall is now under construction.

Brown Hall and Infrastructure Improvements - $7.100万年
New Mexico Tech's Brown Hall is a three-story, 23,872 square foot building that was
built in 1929 and serves as the school's main administrative building. Housed within
the building include the Office of the President and offices for Academic Affairs,
Student University Relations, Admin & Finance, Human Resources, and 研究 & 经济
Development.
What parts of Brown Hall will be renovated with 去债券 funds?
The renovation will provide:
High efficiency refrigerant cooling throughout the building, updating the internal
circulation within the building by connecting the building to the campus chilled water

Removal of the ad hoc mixture of cooling systems;
Addition of a fire sprinkler system throughout the building;
Upgrade of the Electrical, Mechanical, and IT systems that will utilize direct digital
controls for the HVAC system providing energy efficiencies;
Remodeling all three floors of the building to provide much needed office space and

Landscaping upgrades that will better integrate the rear entrances of the building
into the campus common. This was a key request of student body.
What additional campus infrastructure improvements will the 去债券 include?
Safety lighting upgrades to install high efficiency LED pole lights in some of the
poorly lit areas of campus to increase student safety.
Site improvements to College Ave. parking lot that include paving, code blue safety
phone and led lighting.
Replacing damaged asphalt parking lots at the Mineral, Science and Engineering Complex
(MSEC), the Gold Building, and the Altamirano Residence Hall parking lots.
